You cant even replace the vionic insert with a custom orthodic insert because there isn't enough room in the shoe- you'd have to size up at least 1 or 2 sizes and even then the shoe is so flimsy it would be like putting your custom insert into a soleless moccasin.

Seriously, all trainers should have a heavy duty zip like these do.

I'd heard several people rave about Chacos so I thought I would try some.

The sole and insole were also thinner and harder/firmer than I was expecting.

If you aren’t familiar with chacos, you can expect high arch support, and comfort.

I will be buying another pair, and now I’m convinced I need the heavy duty boots, as we do get on avg like 2.5/3 feet of snow over a winter.

these boots are sized 1/2 size too small.

Memory foam insole causes boot to fit 1/2 size small
As other customers have reported, these hiking boots fit about 1/2 size small with the thick memory foam inserts they are manufactured with.

but the toe box was cramped and made my life more difficult for several months having to deal with corns and blisters caused by poor fitting boots.

The toe boxes are too narrow, the tounge is too tight around the instep of my foot and the laces were just barely long engough to secure the boots to my feet.

These "hiking" boots are more cheaply made, look less durable, have less padding inside, less arch support and shorter laces than any pair of boots I've worn the last five years including el cheapo Wal Mart boots.

The inside of the boot had very little padding and worn with regular cotton summer weight socks felt very uncomfortable.

Now the boots fit perfectly, and provide the correct arch support for long mountain hikes.

I bought 63" heavy duty waxed laces and now my boots are complete.

Cheap Junk
I bought a pair of Rocky Outback boots a while back that I was very pleased with.

Most comfortable shoe I have ever bought.

I have bought 5 pair throughout the years,  tall hunting to hikers and they never disappoint me.

Oh, one more thing…Rocky boots last forever!

Overall, these boots are well constructed and comfortable (after replacing the foam insoles).

Now for the soles,  the sole grips on any terrain, one of my hunting boots (retired those boots)  the soles are missing chunks from the mountains I have climbed and they still grip strong.
