The uppers loosened up a bit, and the heels wore down to the point of slipping on downhills.

Really weird, uncomfortable, and not stable/grippy at my heel.

The Solomons gripped my heel and both shoes had the same amount of high arch this time.

Too tight on the back of the heel and caused pain from the start.

There is a stupid horizontal seam in the rear heel area that rubs badly when going up steep inclines.

Regarding lacing and comfort: Other reviewers have commented on the lacing system and the fact that they put them on for the first time and ran 9 miles and their feet hurt.

My feet are always super hot and hurting by the end of the 10-milers with these shoes.

Whereas in the non water proof  version, I can only get 1 finger in when laced tightly.

Regarding the quick-pull lacing system: you simply don't have the ability to customize the tightness where you want it/need it - especially if you have oddly shaped feet and need more room over bunions, etc.

Bottom line - swap out the laces if you need a custom fit.

They absolutely cradled my feet and took me through all sorts of mud, snow and beach exposure.

I’ve walked in soaked grass and my feet stayed dry , next up will be in the canoe to test the waterproofing.

The bright colors which frequently clash, seem to be the style particularly for hiking shoes.

These are thank heavens not so bright and the colors blend together fabulously.

I’ve had these shoes before and I needed a new pair.

These shoes fit perfectly and are so comfortable.

While still dark enough to hide trail dust and dirt, they still look like a shoe for a women, not for my brother!, I found all of the Solomon styles to be the most comfortable.

I’ve had them out on the trail; rocky, stump-ridden and with sharp inclines and declines and my feet were nice and snug and not moving around in the shoe.

I was looking for a replacement shoe for my old Salomon Ellipse GTX hiking shoes which I LOVED!

The shorter hikes with lower elevation are no problem.

The grip on the bottom of the shoe is hard core and fantastic for heavy weighted hiking.

The toe box is great and the Gortex kept my feet completely dry walking through super wet grass on overgrown trails.

Those are fit leg like a glove, stretchable one,

but if your leg full or wide- size up, opening of the shoe might not big enough.

The size 7 was too small and the size 8 was too big.

However after 2 wears the colors faded and the texture has altered.

The front of the shoes can get scuffed up depending on how active your child is.

I bought a pair for my 6 year old son and he put holes in the front of them within a month.

These were a little too big, they were floppy off my sons feet.


I tried them on my son and he told me they hurt.

The only thing she complained about was the inside cushion slid around once they got wet so she took it out and hasn’t complained since.

I felt the inside and the stuff they use is very uncomfortable and pokes the foot.

Update: (NOT) Perfect river shoes
Update: it’s been a few weeks of fishing/river use with multiple washes and scrubs with no avail.

The Velcro’s straps just need to be adjusted tighter.

10 too small on a foot who usually wears a 10
My daughter wears between a 9 and a 10 so I got the 10 and it was too small.

but wish it was a bit more snug so her feet don't keep slipping out.

I got the size my 9 year old and my 4 year old ware in shoes and they were too big for water shoes.

It seemed like the back the heal of the foot would easily come out of the water shoe well kicking and swimming around in deep water or in the water walking through the sand.
