I walked around in them and they seem to have loosen a bit to where it doesn't feel as tight- more walking should loosen them out.

My normal size is 8, and while the 8 fits it was a bit snug, so id you have wide feet or large calves i would size up to accommodate thicker socks!

I first ordered my usual size and they were very tight, even with super thin socks.

Perhaps it was because the fur lining in the boot wrapped comfortably around my feet so it didn’t feel too long lengthwise.

but they are narrow so I needed to go a full size up for my wide feet.

but disappointing (if you don't have narrow feet, don't bother) I live in an area where it can snow 9 months a year, so great boots are essential.

Unless you have narrow feet and really like fur, these will probably not meet your needs.

I own a different style of Columbia snow boots that are more sturdy in the soles.

In my experience with Colombia omni-heat products [I have the Heavenly Hooded Omni-Heat late fall/early winter jacket as well- which is why I got these boots because omni-heat is my bff].

laces allow for a custom fit around your foot, ankle and calf!

A zipper can't be customized, so the shaft of the boot is always made wider to fit "most" people.

I have size 5.5 feet and got a 6 because I'd like to wear thick socks with them; they fit with light socks, have about 1/2- 3/4 inch of free space in the toe region and the sides are a bit snug.
