maybe sizing up would help or maybe they're not made for boys with thick calves?

Go up a couple of sizesfrom the size chart.

but these still were really snug on his calves and difficult to put on him because of that.

however I don't think they keep you super warm

but they were smaller than his other rain boots in the same size, and we could only squeeze them on him for a couple months.

but when the boot came in it was too small.
