I'm so confused because my other pairs that are the exact same model and size have never given me this problem.

I ordered my normal size and my toes were jammed up against front of toe box.

I'll order a larger size and retry - follow up with a new review based on new size.

Most importantly, the pair I received ran small.

I found that I need to go up half a UK size.


I have other Altras and typically wear a 7.5 women - that was too small in these.

So with the "unisex" sizing and Altras already running on the small side, I think it's difficult for a woman to figure out what size to order in this product.

I have a pair of Altra Olympus in a size 9 (Euro 40.5) and could easily have been comfortable in a half size bigger.

Even two months in, I have to wear ankle socks to make sure my heels don't bleed, which is a shame because I like to run as barefoot-like as possible.


Shoes feel unstable, wear very fast both top material and rubber sole.

I will not be able to wear these as running shoes, as my toe touches the end of the shoe when I'm running.

The sole of the shoe shows significant tread wear after just one short run.

Firstly, these racing flats are unisex, which leads to some discrepancies with the sizing of the shoes compared to other shoes from the Altra brand, certainly for men's sizing anyway.

but due to the sizing - it's unlikely that you'll be able to use the same shoe comfortably with and without the insole.

It's almost nothing once the insert is removed and would be a dreamy minimalist racing shoe if it were easier to get the sizing right.

However, the 8.5 I ordered are tight, enough so that my partner noticed the first time I put them on.

I have to say these are the ONLY Altra or any minimalist shoes that have ever rubbed my heels to the point of bleeding.

For some reason, the tabs on the heels are sharp and stiff and dig into my heels.

Smaller than expected
I was excited to try out this new design with the accommodating toe box.

As with all Altra shoes, they have a foot shaped toe box which allows your toes to spread out and have a zero drop profile.

The shoes come with 2 inserts - one with a foot shaped contour which I assume is for comfort, and a less cushioned completely flat one which makes the shoe feel like a true racing flat.

These shoes are super light, they hardly weigh anything at all.

Having said all that, the shoe is very light weight with a thin breathable upper and an ultralight sole.

The soles are bouncy as most Altras, so I'm sure they'll be just as comfortable.

The race shoes are comfortable and so light that you can barely feel you've got them on.

They're comfy with a nice snug instep and not as cushy/padded as some of the other Altras.

plenty of room for toes to spread out, very comfortable and no pains or pangs whatsoever.

Update:  Return was acknowledge quickly via email after sending via UPS.

If your feet are actually wide in that you require shoes with an option for a wider width, these may not be it for you.

I have extremely wide feet, and they just weren't wide enough for me.

Inaccurately Sized
I typically wear size 7.5 to 8 shoes and was looking for a wide option because I'm 7.5 months pregnant and my feet are starting to swell.

I've tried other naturalizer shoes and never noticed a size discrepancy, not sure why these are so far off.

I ordered 8.5W and 9W and ultimately had to return both sizes.

I put these on my feet, went shopping and they felt like I had worn them for years.
