Delivered yesterday while I was at work, I opened the box today to find minor peeling on the neck of the right boot as well as 2 small sticky residue stains 1 on the boot tongue the other on the boot tip

Update 08/20/23 Almost 2 months of use now & it's raining in Cali, I get to work step in a puddle just barely deep enough to pass the heel platform area and now my entire right foot is soaked and it just so happens to be the right foot boot that had the peeling around the neck and a residue stains on the tongue and outer shell.

I'm unsure where the hole in the right boot is

I just had my roof replaced by contractors and they left a TON of roofing nails all over the yard when they tore off the old shingles.

Not slip resistant at all had to order a second pair since the first pair had a defect with the steel toe.

Painful Toe Design
As other reviews have mentioned, a painful crease between the first and second lace eyelets developed almost immediately on both boots.

I used high quality boot socks when trying the boots, and the painful crease near the toe box never went away.

I either have to go a size higher or wider and that makes it uncomfortable.

Build quality is excellent and very comfortable pair work boots.

The insoles that come with the boots are fairly comfortable and the laces are better than most boots I've purchased in the past.

They are very light for a well-constructed boot.

Overall its a great work boot for a relatively normal market price.

I’ve purchased all the top brands (Red Wings, Thorogood, Timberland) and Keen seems to be at the top of my list.

The shoes are lightweight (for steel toe shoes, anyway) and breathable--much cooler than leather work boots.

The steel toe seems as strong as the one in my regular work boots.

but they are a comfortable alternative to work boots for those times I only need the toe protection and not the full boot.

but I found my toe rubbing against the steel toe box which was uncomfortable around the house and would have been unbearable after a few hours on a job.

There seems be a little too much room in the toe box, at least with the size I bought because there’s some abnormal discomfort on my big toes because the opposite side of my foot doesn’t have enough surface area to prevent excessive movement.

The soles have little to no traction and after a good rain any dirt or sand you get stuck to the sole makes it impossible to have good traction.

If you care about keeping the shoes clean, and I know I am in the small percentage of folks here, the perimeter (sides) of the rubber soles seem to collect dirt and grime very easily and is very hard to remove.

The soles seem to wear a bit faster than expected as they seem to be more sacrificial on concrete surfaces as I am not one to drag my heel when walking normally so I assume it has much more to do with the materials used for the soles and the tackiness to better guard against slippage.

Sadly, they did not fit me right so they will not work for me.

As of now I would recommend if you are looking for a lightweight, breathable and extremely comfortable boot as long as you know these will wear faster being a wedge.

Regarding these steel toe work boots, first off I want to say that as far as build quality and quality of materials goes, these appear to be 5 star boots.

Hands down the best work boots I've EVER had - And I've had a lot of work boots.

Decent boot for the price
I’ve noticed that not a single person has said anything about the boots they receive versus the picture.

So the boots actually cost me $112 which is a great price.

Seems they have made a steel toe work boot that really doesn’t need to break in!!!!!

They are nice boots, especially at the price point at which they sell.

They are the only style boots I will wear considering my back and feet end up in much better shape at the end of the day/week.

I ordered another Ariat shoe that is regular, and those shoes are more wide then this pair.

I also noticed one heel (slightly larger foot) was rubbing so I'm hoping the 10.5 Wide will do the trick.

I’ve been wearing work  boots for over 20 years, they have come a long way over that time and I’ve been able to find some really “right out of the box “ comfortable boots in the past.

I wear a 11 1/2 ordered a size 12 way to tight and short probably need to order a 13 .

The cytokines will make the ankles become tender or painful.

There may be a third painful aspect of wearing hiking boots.

Don't lace your boots too tight - especially the ankles - or your boots will become uncomfortable and painful tout de suite.

At that point, if the massage continued, certain areas of your ankles would shoot out occasional sharp pain signals - like bee stings.

Because of ankle mobility suppression, your gait may change, and your KNEES may begin aching.

but if you're breaking-in your boots by walking mostly on cement sidewalks and asphalt roads, tiny micro-fractures will occur in the heads of the metatarsal bones of your feet, etc.

And don't walk in boots on uneven ground in the dark.

I realize this is my fault with the leather being natural.

If you store them near a heat source, their leather may dry out and crack.

If you do, the leather won't breathe properly or release perspiration from inside the boots, and their inner Gortex lining won't work well.. if at all.

(My own feet were used to wearing boots, and I'd already been hiking 12 to 20 miles daily for decades, so these boots felt great after four days of walking.

They are very stiff soled boots and waterproof.

They have stayed waterproof with me conditioning them about once every six months with Grangers leather conditioner.

Zamberlan hydroboc waterproofing cream is safe to use.

Only tighten the laces to the point of being comfortably snug.
