Helpful reviews and my experience with shoes made in Vietnam guided me to order the Columbia Women's Crestwood.

Will be trying out some more Columbia shoes/boots soon i'm sure!

These have a slightly wider toe box then some other columbia hiking shoes and were very comfortable

What I did like, unlike many other Columbia trail shoes, is that this shoe had enough room to add an appropriate insole which does have good arch support without making my feet feel like they were stuffed inside the shoe with no room to wiggle.

I went on a trip to Ireland and Scotland I was planning on lot of walking ,lots of rain and alot of wind  Walking on cobble stones and crossing gullies.

A tiny pebble will work its way in, and create a divot in the insole.

My only con to the whole shoe, and it's a little minor thing, is the heel end of the sole feels maybe a little narrower than it probably should be.

I find the wear spot is directly beneath my heel, inside the shoe.

I wonder if I'm going to run into instances where my heel strike might wobble a bit because the heel just isnt quite as wide as I'd prefer.

The only negative I can think of is that the laces supplied with the shoes are – as is usual nowadays – far too long, and I've had to buy another, shorter, pair of laces to avoid having a loop dragging on the ground.

These shoes from Columbia are easily the best walking shoes I've ever worn – I'm now on my 3rd pair.

Good feel the first time I wore the shoe and went for a walk to break them in.

Great shoes for trail or pavement walking
I've walked – outdoors – about 2 miles a day for the past 20 years, some on trails,

The result is a very comfortable and natural gait, with none of the "slapping" I've seen some old guys like me have when the ball of their foot comes down on the walking surface.

It will back you up
I have used this shoes for everything, everything that you can imagine, from the asphalt to the mountain and back, trekking, camping, running, one of the best shoes that I've ever had.

I hike 4.5 miles daily.

I wear these hiking shoes daily, am on my third pair.

though and the brand is reliable so for under $100 I'd say this is a good shoe to target for mild hiking.

I’ve had these for 5 years and still planning on wearing them another 5!

Durability has been excellent, with 800-900 miles (about 15 months) before a pair has worn out.

I wear them pretty much all day, every day, and traction on rock, trails and pavement (wet or dry) is excellent.

Very comfortable, I have walked many miles in them at this point, and they still look great.

but for me – I'm 73, but don't have any "stability" issues – the rounded heel is precisely why the shoes are so comfortable.

They've been equally durable and comfortable, regardless of color.

The arch support was a little lacking, so I needed to buy inserts.

I am a big guy (235#) and these like most of my shoes have the foot support fail at the outside heel which leads to knee pain.

However, the Nevados are pretty cheap shoes and they won't last as long.

Columbia is one of my go to brands for their conservative style and good value.

They have good traction and at the same time are very comfortable to walk with them.

Good fit, comfortable walking shoe
It's been hard to find walking shoes that fit me well and are comfortable to walk in.

I grew to like the soft cushioning, especially on long walks.

More comfort than other hiking shoes I've tried out
I've tried a few different shoes and this pair is the most comfortable after a 15 mile hike and 3500 feet of elevation gain.

but for day hiking so far they have been great.

In the rocks and dirt is where these shoes show their true colors, and you can tell they won't let you down and will encourage you to keep hiking. Love'em.

Very comfortable for a long distance walking and hiking .

I love the footbed on these (that’s coming from a crocs wearing healthcare worker) my feet do not hurt after standing and walking in these all day.

Super grip and once you wear them in they are like slippers.

I  wore these around the house with wool socks, which were better than regular socks.

I wear a womens 9 and other wise the shoe is perfect.

They're great shoes over all, and i still wear them.

I had to return the almost perfect shoe and I was sad.

The bad parts of the shoe is that it is a bit too large (although not large enough to size down - I ordered a 6.5), and the tread is not very grippy.

I have been able to walk a couple of miles a day in these shoes immediately - no breaking in required.

A rare miss from Merrell
I have many different pairs of Merrell hiking shoes and boots, and appreciate that they offer non-leather styles (which is the only type of shoe I will buy).

Did a hike up a mountain two hours up and back and feet never hurt!

It was comfortable right out of the box with good support.
