The boots are made of a thin, brittle, plastic (not rubber).

The plastic cracked within hours of the first use.

but the boot itself started cracking about 2 months in.

His reviews after our first trial run:  the cheap nylon shaft chafed his calf, they were hard to walk in and he kept slipping, and his feet were cold.

Here’s my assessment: Sole is rigid and slick.

Especially since there’s no flex in the sole, treads will clog quickly and the rubber is the type that will freeze to feel like a hard plastic.

I ordered these boots about 5 years ago for my son and they're great.

He said and I quote "they're comfy and cozy".

My son has a narrow foot and I believe they're comfortable because I haven't noticed any signs of discomfort and he has worn them all day.

UPDATE: 3/14/17 After spending between 1 & 2 hours in the snow (6-8 inches) the boots proved to be functional and did not fall short of expectations.

My son is 6 years old, foot length 200 mm, ordered with a margin for growth size 3 with a foot length of 213 mm, everything fit perfectly.

Laces unravel after awhile leaving you with the inner very strong black lace.

The first day I wore them to work i did have some issues with the lacing system

but that was easy resolved by skippng the off set rungs between the lower eyelets and the upper speed eyelets Firt off it was almost impossible to lace them snugly with the way they were laced and when after getting them somewhat snugged up i found they were then difficult to loosen the laces enough to remove them after work.

What's the point of speed laces if you can't use them?? ?
