The only thing I can think of is that if I bought a slightly smaller size maybe they would be tighter and wouldn't make that sound.

I only knocked off a star because I did find that my feet hurt from a lack of cushioning when walking long distances.

The only downside is that they sound like flip-flops.

When walking around indoors (eg: shopping or walking around in a school or lobby of an apartment where there isn't carpeting) they make a flip-flop, flip-flop sound.

My feet never hurt when I wear these for long periods of time, I've used these shoes for an 12 hour dance festival and my feet didn't hurt at all!

I've taken a pair hiking, camping, dancing, running, rock climbing, and even the beach and these shoes are very hardy!

but the fabric/foundation of the shoe itself was so wide that when I got in the water, all of the rocks and sand got in immediately and made for very poor water shoes.

It was a full size too large AND very wide.

The fit now is a bit snug at the tops of my toes, I'm on the fence about the width.

The 9's were too big and the 8's were too small.

I might have been better off sizing a single size down.

I wear a size 8 shoe and took a size 7 in these.

The quality was poor and the bottoms ripped almost instantly when I started to walk on the rocks in the water.

These shoes are like the lovechild of ballet slippers and hiking boots – delicate and graceful in the water, yet rugged and adventurous on land.

but once you get used to them they save your feet in the water, on the beach, especially if you love near beaches with a lot of rocks or shells and don't want to have sore feet while enjoying the beach.

This morning one of the straps came completely out from the shoe and I noticed the "leather" part the must hit the ground when I walk is torn to shreds.

They fit perfectly and are comfortable and the navy color I chose matches perfectly with my jeans and other navy slacks and dresses.

There is obviously a bit of wear and tear after 12 months of wearing them preeeety often,

but after being on my feet walking, running, dancing for 6+ hours, I didn't have any pain.

I've gone walking around the city on slope hills with them, walked on the beach with them, in the snow, etc and they are still in pretty great shape.
