Unfortunately, the 8 was too snug (not in the kind of way that new leather boots should be), and the 9 was too large, even with thick socks.

However it’s very very snug with thicker socks or when I tried my own insoles.

The one boot hits against my ankle a bit so higher socks or pant coverage may be key.

I wouldn't wear these with sporty-cotton/spandex socks or dress socks since my foot would probably slide around.

BUT, it took about 5 or 6 wears, plus manual stretching of the boots, plus stuffing with  paper, plus wearing a protection over my shins, to finally break these in.

I love Dr. Martens (own quite a few pairs) and expect these to last years.

It looks incredibly professional with business casual/uniform and I’ve gotten lots of compliments from coworkers…but it also looks badass and so cute in my daily shorts and t shirt or goth attire!

I love the look of them and with the patent leather I can wear them at work as they look more professional.

I typically wear an 8.5 (often larger in boots though), and I had hoped from the other reviews that sizing down would cover me.

If you can find a size that works for you though, these boots felt sturdy

There is no stitching on the boot and the sole is a great size, not super large or bulky like their classic boots.

though it’s a fairly narrow cut of boot, there’s still enough space to comfortably fit a full-length insole, which is great because there’s no arch support at all.

The leather is not quite as stiff as the traditional 1460 boots, and a lot shinier.

And they are a truly beautiful looking boot.

* - I just got the black Flora Doc Martens boot in the mail, 2-day shipping was on-time.

I double checked the item # in the boot and on the box and it matched with the item # on the Doc Marten website, sooo I think these are real leather.

Anyway, I think the quality and construction of the boot lives up to Doc Marten's reputation.

but they look great with slim jeans too, and I am pondering wearing them to a casual Christmas party with a skirt and sweater.

They fit like a true EU 39, which is more like a US 8.5.

The size 8 are perfect, and I can fit slightly thicker socks on.

I gave it a shot, and sure enough, the shoes were too small - size 42.

I'm usually a 11.5W or 12, and I had to return a pair of Panama Jack Men's Casual Oxford in size 12 to get this pair in 13.

I asked the seller how to convert the size (I mentioned I wanted a Euro size 43 - as I have owned another pair of these shoes before), and the only response was "It depends on how thick your socks are." Really?

I returned the shoes and bought them from Arthur Knight's website, in the UK.

It's much more wearable than all the Dr Martens I tried and had to return. Recommended.

Perfect for my work when a more professional appearance is good,

I'll keep them because it's been so hard to get a size of anything in this class of shoe that actually fits well.

Regardless, using a shoe stretcher and just normal wear, they fit quite nicely after a week or so.
