I have been wearing the regular Reef Smoothy sandals for years, and been a huge fan.

These things are slick, and walking on hardwood floors requires focus and concentration not to fall over, I would defiantly not recommend these for those who are unsteady on their feet or for whom a slip and fall could be catastrophic.

but the safety issue caused by the slippery soles is a legitimate concern

However low star count due to the fact that the bottom of them are so slick.

although they are cushioned, they are heavier than his usual Reefs and he’s sliding around a little.

I have noticed over time the grip gets better, especially if you make a point of scuffing the bottoms, much like leather soled dress shoes.

but it was too big then exchanged with an 8.5 ( didn’t have Wide version offered) which fit good but in reality it is too narrow, much smaller and the same on material.

The leather soles are Blake welted, not Goodyear welted, so if I were a young guy seeking shoes to withstand decades of daily use and resoling, I don't know if I would pay the $178 for them, because Blake welting is more expensive to resole.

The only thing of note with shoes of this type(leather sole) is you need to be careful on slippery surfaces as the soles  are stick until broken in.

Fit is narrow and very tight around the ankle compared to any other shoes I’ve owned, and is very uncomfortable at the ankles if walking very far.

The only thing I find lacking is the laces.

They were also very comfortable right out of the box.

When I got them, they were a perfect fit and comfortable.

(reasonably fit person wearing them with regular size ankles!)

The fit and finish were exceptional and I found them to fit as described in the sizing chart.
