These shoes kept my feet dry during Hurricane Lee, so I'm obliged to give 5 stars

They were incredibly comfortable and kept my feet warm and dry.

The weather was super rainy, I walked through streams, around waterfalls, walked through water almost to my ankles, up volcanos and every which way; these held up great, staying perfectly dry.

Also the Velcro closure doesn’t line up all that well for a snug fit, which is kinda the point with using then?

It takes an extra fidget to get the bottom strap to sit at right place,

If I use a large, the Velcro will not line up correctly and I cannot secure it around my ankle.

The worst part, though, is the durability of the strap.

Both pairs have had the strap split on me.

Another issue is that thick mud will pull on the bottom strap enough that it will come out from beneath the shoe and just sit on the back of the shoe.

Improvements I would recommend are these: 1. another Velcro  strap around the top to keep the gaiter in place, and 2.

I really wish they chose a different method or rather an additional method of securing the gaiters around your ankle/shoe besides just velcro.

The velcro doesn't line up nicely and if they get really wet and muddy have a hard time staying securely fastened.

The strap on the bottom of the gaiters is at the wrong angle for these shoes.

There is a built ankle pad on each side that will just feel kinda bulky and unnecessary if you have a shoe or boot higher than the lowest profile shoe.

Second, inexplicably, they do not fit well with the very Salomon shoes that you're most likely to want to wear in the conditions when you'd want gaiters - the SpeedCross and SpikeCross.

But i found tricky to fit over shoe correctly.

Started developing holes in the elastic closure after 2 hikes.

Worked great in keeping depris out of my shoes and feet stayed dry all day.

The Altra gaiters seem like they will dry quicker than the thicker Solomons.

I can definitely recommend especially for low profile trail running shoes.

This is sort of a high-top hiking shoe, and is the bulkiest "boot" these Salomons would fit.

Size 12 -1/2 boot over ankle bought (high) (large) extremly pleased with product.

These work really well at closing my pants at top of half boot to keep out debree and cover laces.

I have bought 5 pairs to date and tried ordering larger sizes and the result has been the same , couldn't fit the shoe as to narrow.

but seems more like a size 11 than a size 12.

These are much tighter than a size 12 shoe expected, even knowing they are not "wide" width.

It's very tight for the size I ordered it in.

I'm a US size 11 and the equivalent size I ordered it in fits really tight around my feet.

Without socks, they're still pretty tight; if you plan to use socks, they will feel like your feet are being binded.

I dont have the best foot arch, Im a little flat footed, and these boots have arch and heel support so all the pressure has been going to my toes creating pain on my big toe joints.

I work in the automotive field as well and these boots have no grip at all on slippery surfaces, its actually comical how bad they are.

I hate the new boot constant squeak when I walk down stairs as well, even after wearing for some time.

If your working environment includes slippery surfaces these are not the boots you want.

I don't recommend these boots and in my opinion they are dangerous.

The tongue on the boot squeaks against the inside neck of the boot as it is a sort of pleather.

I caught my heel on my foot peg and it completely pulled the back sole from the boot.

My only negative in the month I've used the boots is the heating up feeling which I could probably solve if I got merino wool socks.

but because they were so uncomfortable after work, I just left them in my work locker.

They limit movement around the ankle which leads to strain, they have terrible cushioning, and they gave me chronic knee pain.

Yet, my boots held up; keeping my feet warm and dry.

My 8 year old boots are better, my worn running shoes are better.

Fit well and are comfortable
Been wearing them for two months so far they have been great a lot lighter than my usual steel toe boots, very comfortable I hope they continue to hold up as well as they have been, composite toe has been put to the test a few times and held up fine.

I work 12 hour shifts and they do feel comfortable throughout,

My new Hi Tec's are so comfy, I wear them to and from work, despite having worked in them all day.

Insoles are the answer
I ordered a size 42 and it was a really tight fit.

I would have returned the shoes if I wasn’t able to remove the overly thick (high quality) insole and replace it with a lower profile style.

Shoes are not for serious hiking
I bought these for a 100 mile hike in the Sierras.

Five blisters from foot movement inside the shoes, two black toenails because the ankle could not be locked in securely, stone bruises through a too-soft sole, and to top it off, the treads on the soles started peeling off (fortunately on the last day of the hike - unfortunately it was also when I was climbing Half Dome).

By the time the hike was over the shoes were completely shot and my feet had become extremely painful.

If you want hiking shoes, these are not it.

They don't have the wide toe box
These are way too narrow.

They're just a regular narrow shoe that squishes my toes in.

Uncomfortable and very expensive at $200 USD.

My 2nd pair, and the black pair is very tight in the toe box.

I tried every combination of socks and lacing known to man, all to no avail.

My toes have stayed dry the entire time, and I have plowed/shoveled/snowblown 6 different times and not once has my foot ever felt the snow.

I bought these for the purpose of playing slowpitch softball, as I love using trail running shoes over cleats.

I have been amazed and I'm thinking about making these or the mids my winter boot.

I’ve always ordered the same size and they have consistently fit well.
