but I felt like these were too tight as soon as I put them on my feet, without even having them laced up yet.

The only reason I don't like this is the material doesn't seem to let your feet breath and it becomes uncomfortable in that sense.

but I had a hard time deciding if I should return them.

Ultimately, I did choose to return them because I was afraid that the extra cushioning would cause me to get blisters on my heals.
