They are not water resistant and at first the soles are a bit slick until you rough them up a bit.

The one complaint overall is that the sole seems to be a somewhat hard and flat rubber foam, with minimal/no tread.

One thing to note, is that the bottom can be a bit slippery without much/any tread, and due to the type/texture and hardness of the foam/rubber, as I found out when my foot almost slipped off of a carpeted step while going downstairs.

I have purchased several pairs of these in the past.

Decently comfortable and not too intrusive, no uncomfortable seams or irritations on the inside.

These are the same house type cord slippers ice cube wire in the movie Friday.

These humble house shoes were the closest thing a working man could get to a vacation, and on long winter nights, the warmth and  humor of these most garish and cheaply manufactured slippers were the perfect accompaniments to an evening full of home cooked meals and early nights in front of the television.

I think every red blooded American man should own a pair of these slippers at some point in his life, if only to walk in his father's shoes for a day.
