I would say they run about 1/2 sixe big, and why does every shoe you buy these days have round shoelaces on them! 😖

I purchased a 9 wide per recommendations and they were wrong.

Although the toe box had more room, the overall shoe felt too big in length, especially as I walked around in them (like walking in long shoes).

The current generation, this toe protection actually comes to below the toe - even with a snug toe box - providing little to no toe protections if you stub that shoe into something as you are walking or running.

Somehow, if used heavily in rugged trail running or walking, I would think these eyelets would give way quickly and tear off the shoe.

The sole grips wore out very quickly at the heel areas, much more quickly then expected - compared to other trainers and walking shoes I have worn.

I've lowered the rating from 4 stars to 3 stars as these trail running shoes didn't last at least two years of moderate wear as light walking shoes.

At first, I thought the pair I bought might be too snug in the toe box, a lot less room than what I am use to with Columbia Peakfreaks.

* The toe box needs to be a bit bigger so that it doesn't feel so snug, like good quality running shoes.

Even after a few weeks, I still have the feeling that the toe box is too snug,

but "dry" feet from the outside elements.

Shoe laces are thin and very delicate, and did not survive the first washing machine cleaning very well.

The shoe lace tips wore off in the washer, so had to use tape to keep the worn ends together.

Since the are not water-proof, sand and dust gets into the shoes easily, hence the washing machine cleaning.

like the wide toe box and grippy soles which the company is known for.

These are the best overall shoes for jogging and trekking that I have ever owned.

Very Good Trail Runner
I've been a big fan of Inov8 since 2015 when I hiked part of the PCT.

Also fine for climbing rough Scottish hills often pathless.

but I foresee them staying as my <10 mile light hikers and runners.

I noticed after walking around all day in these that my achilles tendon started to ache, which is totally new for me when it comes to footwear.

but the 1st day walking on a trail any wet grass at all and the water soaked right through the shoe.

But while MQM Ace had Vibram soles, these Flex have Merrell soles, which regrettably don't seem particularly durable- I'm already missing 2 lugs on one shoe after merely 1 run and 1 hike, albeit a very rocky one.

I have had these for less than six months and they soles are missing studs.

But Merrell has never been great with insoles.

Size is a little smaller than expected (1/2 size smaller than Merrell Moabs).

Overall, it is not the best hiking/trail shoe I have had and a miss by Merrell.

I will be contacting the manufacturer as I would expect a much better product from Merrell.

Two, they are only somewhat water resistant.

I wanted a lightweight hiking shoe for the northern Arizona trails I hike.

These shoes are well made, light weight, and have great grip.

This is typical of light weight shoes, so what I expected.

One thing these have going for them is that they are super light.

I hike everyday in AZ (Phx area) & yes even in triple digit heat during the summer.

On my first trail I put these shoes to the test by hiking the most unforgiving terrain/mountain I hike -lots of loose & jagged, hard (mostly granite) rock & they performed well.

MQM Flex seem just as comfortable and perhaps have even better traction than MQM Ace due to pretty sizeable lugs on the sole.

This is a comfortable shoe that was sized accurately.
