Cracks all over the boots
Very disappointed.

Not even a year old and it has cracks all over.

13.2.14 I'm editing this review as after only 15 months I have a split in the sole of my Hunters.

However, after 10 months, a particularly wet day led to a wet sock and on inspection I noticed that both boots had little splits across the tops and around the crease of the toe; they had much deeper cracks around the ankles.

(Not so good if you usually have wide fit boots as these are quite narrow).

but when you pay that much for something you probably only wear for a few hours every day for 6-8months of the year you expect them to last longer.

They were not able to manage 10 months, where my last much MUCH cheaper wellies lasted for 8 years with the same amount of wear.

They are slightly tight on the calf, my calf at the widest point measures 38cm, id say that's about the boots maximum.

I had a pair of Hunter wellies many years ago and have never managed to find another make of wellies with the same level of comfort.


I justified spending 4 times more than i had paid for previous wellies on the basis that Hunter Boots have a reputation for quality and, being as i am the one who walks the dog everyday, the one who trudges across muddy wet fields most winter (and often summer)days, didn't i deserve a good wellie that would be comfortable and one that would last me years?

I use them for dog walking up to 3 hours through wet muddy fields and they are extremely comfortable.

My daughter loves these boots in the rain.

These boots seem to be high quality and should last her for the four years she's attending college.

They feel like a normal pair of boots and don't slop about like some other wellies.

These boots fitted perfectly (I am a size 5 and i bought a size 5)and were very comfortable.

They are very comfortable and have an insulating layer which keeps her feet warm as well as dry.

Everything I said above still stands as they are the tallest, most comfy wellies I've had

I owned Hunter boots for years.

I bought the hunter Sherpa insert and makes the boot so cozy!


I now use the boots almost every day in the fall when I walk across the fields with my dog.

A rubber boot that is so comfortable that you can easily walk for two hours.

It is extremely comfortable and my feet are not as hot.

Got two of them and both the soles came off even after gentle use within a year
Cant have a comparison to make as far as cost to quality goes

As others have noted, the seam near the toe starts to separate and lets water right in below the footbed.

The foot bed has a strip of rubber around it, and at the bottom, its simply not water proof.

but by mildly flexing the boot you can see that the gap literally opens up and admits water directly into the foot bed.

I’m so sick and tired of ridiculous styles for women when it comes to boots with unsightly patterns, unnecessary zippers, and decorative buckles that jingle.

These boots can compete with the Hunter and Helly Hansen rain boots for men.

These fit the bill in spades and are half the cost of Hunter boots and just a bit more than the Helly Hansen Midsund2.

There has been no issue with them leaking water and they have a good grip for walking on slippery terrain.

I really appreciate the beefy soles on muddy or slushy trail walks.

These boots were a big hit and they fit him perfectly.

This boot, strangely, seems quite well made otherwise.

While their Canadian made boots seem pretty good most of the time.

but they appear well built, look as good as a rain boot can I suppose, beefy treads, rubber feels soft, not uncomfortable, not tight in the calf.

These are the best value for your money for long lasting rubber rain boots.

Not too wide like some boots, there's enough room for an insole and the versatility to wear a thick sock in colder months.

I purchased these as a gift for a family member who is rather particular about their shoes (fit, style, color, you name it).

it has nice materials, it fits well, and the actual rubber seems pretty durable.

Price: I paid £49, currently cheap for Hunter otherwise I wouldn't pay that much for them.


Very comfortable and much better to walk in than ordinary Wellingtons.

They fit like a glove and I know they will be value for money as my fiend has a pair that have lasted years.

Sizewise: I'm a 4 to 4.5, I bought a 4 and they fit fine with thick socks, I walked 5 miles without them pressing on my big toe!

It reminds me of someone wearing jeans that are too tight and their love handles are going over the sides of their pants.

but a little stiff
I bought these to wear on rainy days when I don't want to wear my tall rubber rain boots all day.

but, then they would feel a little tight so, if going to wear Heavy socks order a whole size up.

but, the top of boot is rubbing above my ankle and, the first day I wore them I wanted to cuff my jeans high so wore a low sock and, now have blisters above ankle of both sides.

Don’t make the same mistake break them in before u wear to low of a sock. lol!

I had to wear taller socks to keep from rubbing.

to be fair i’m not wearing them that often because they are so stiff 😫

but fit a bit snug so thick socks won't work unless you do a half size up.

They were snug when I first tried them on (with thickish socks).

The top leather part is much wider than the rubber toe/bottom, so it looks like it's bubbling over the side.

Even if they did fit, the leather looks cheaper than a lot of other Sorel products.

They’re not easy to put on or take off, the leather is very stiff and hurts putting on my feet.

My *only* complaint is that the leather upper digs into my leg at the top of the boot just above my ankle.

I'm hoping the leather will break in and if that happens, I may modify my review.

Update: Hasn’t gotten any comfortable over time after a year .

And they just weren’t as comfortable as all my other Sorel boots are.

but after wearing them for a ~2 mile walk with my dog, they now are perfectly snug with moderately thick socks.

While on my walk, I walked around in a creek in the woods and my feet were perfectly drive.

They’re so cute that I tried to put insoles in them to see if that would help with the heel lift.
