My only problem is that the heel pocket is just a little deep and the jell insert allows a vertical movement during normal walking that quickly wore a blister on the back of both ankles

I have owned Hush Puppies for over 10 years and have been very satisfied with them.

Hush puppies definitely the best built of the 3 pairs with the full leather upper vs. the nylon cloth inside the Rockport and Dunham.

Hush Puppies is the only pair of the three that hugs my heel so there is little slippage.

easy clean

Being a "wet weather" shoe, it should be easy to clean the dirt off of it (unlike an all leather shoe with leather soles and heel).

They are comfortable and fit as expected, and best of all I can get through the metal detectors at work without setting off the detectors.

The leather around the ankle has a nice snug feel compared with the Dunhams and Rockports.
