Like I've experienced with a lot of Mizuno running shoes, the shoe is pretty firm.

Great shoes - I think I'm becoming a Mizuno loyalist now!

And I have liked Asics and Mizuno in the past.

They are a less chunky shoe (which Mizuno in the past definitely had way bulkier running shoes).

I quickly noticed that my cheap shoes from Walmart were not cutting it so I looked at a lot of reviews and had narrowed it down to a few of the big brands including Mizuno when Amazon had them listed as one of the deals of the day so I decided to try them out and I'm really glad that I did.

but these Mizuno shoes have made a world of difference and I'm so glad that I bought them.

They actually feel (and look) like the older Wave Rider 17, which I really liked (my first Mizuno shoes).

Great fast shoe
I call this my Halloween running shoe, which just makes me sad that it's currently July.

The fit is very much true to size, and I've run as far as 10 miles in the Sayonara 3 with no issues at all, so I could see this easily being at least a half marathon shoe.

I highly recommend these running shoes for someone who wants a lower profile, lighter, faster shoe without going fully minimalist.

These are great running shoes that are priced well, made well, built to last, and comfortable.

They're light, responsive and comfortable.

They are really light weight and comfortable when I am running and I really like the way they feel and they have a comfortable feel that helps reduce the impact of running long distances and so I really love that.

The heel is snugly held in place, without the laces tied too tightly.

but the design is relatively flat to allow a comfortable mid-foot strike.

I have been using these for a month and a half now and I really like the way that they fit and feel.

They fit as I would have expected them to based on the size of other shoes that I have bought in the past.

On a hilly and/or unpaved running course, Wave Sayonara 3 is a better fit; it's more versatile.

Mizuno Wave Riders have been fairly consistent, to me, from model to model.

Good Cushioning
I'm currently rather overweight and looked for a running shoe designed for those of us who are unmistakenly not skinny.

Wave Riders a solid, neutral running shoe
As a runner, I've developed a fondness for a few different brands and models of cushion, neutral shoes.

These have a comfortable fit and feel great.


Very good fit feels good and very comfortable.

Fit is perfect and same size as my previous Enigma version.

Lots of room in the toe box, no hard binders on the toes either, the cushion feels like angel whispers on my feet!

These compare well with other mid to upper tier cushioned shoes from Brooks, Asics, and Hoka..

Mizuno Men's Rider 23 Running Shoe

While Mizuno states a 12mm heel drop for both the Wave Rider 22 and Wave Rider 23, the Waver Rider 23 feels like it has less heel drop than the Wave Rider 22, which is really frustrating as my achilles and rear chain is acting up.

As it is now, every 12mo I have to adapt to a new shoe's heel drop, arch, forefoot, etc., and half the time I end up injured.

These are my first pair of Mizuno running shoes and I’ve always been a fan of the style.

I would definitely put this shoe into the category of long to medium distance shoe, I'm not sure if it would ever be a good racing shoe.

This is the only and first time that I have ever enjoyed a stiffer sole on my running shoes.

Recently I’ve ran in ASICS Kayanos (which I really like) as well as Nike Pegasus and Flyknit.

I've gone through different Nike, Asics, I tried Newtons and adidas boost were my favorite for a very long time, I think I've gone through at least 8 different kinds of boost and it always left me with an impression that it was mostly good for racing half marathons.

The Rider 23 is lighter weight, runs true to size, and has the same width and toe box as the Wave Sky 2.

but these shoes with sock liners are so horrible for runners with wide feet.

As stated by another reviewer, the width of the Wave Inspire 15’s seem to  be narrower.

I had to exchange my Wave Inspire 15 D’s for 2E’s - wide.

If they did not ache and I excercised, the ache would return.

but I had to exchange the first pair of 2E’s because the inside upper was too high and rubbing the inside of my ankle.

They are VERY uncomfortable - so much so that I have to cut them out!

Padded tongue is a nice bonus as most shoes these days are going away from the plush tongues and for someone who has tendinitis on the top of my foot, I applaud Mizuno.

Mizuno makes good running shoes for wide feet (I don’t get paid by them either).

Thankfully, the Mizuno/Amazon exchange process is very fast and hassle free.

In this case, Mizuno/Amazon immediately made things right.

but comfortable at the same time as well as a very stable platform to run on.

The15's fit nice and snug after I tightened up all of the laces real well.

The 15's are a comfortable weight and don't feel heavy or bulky.

Overall, the Wave Inspire 15's are very comfortable and I really enjoy using them!


Second pair of Mizuno's I have had and they are a great fit and provide lots of support.

The other issue, which is more a minor inconvenience really, are the flat laces.

Although they stay tied during long runs, I for some reason find flat laces particularly difficult to undo and plan to swap them out with laces from an older pair.

Continue to be the best shoe for me
I have been wearing Mizuno Inspire running shoes since the Inspire 5 (~2011) and they continue to be the best all round most comfortable shoe for me.

Mizuno has really stepped up their running shoes
Great cushioning, especially in the heel unit.

They fit great, they are super light on my feet and they don't seem bothered by my big wide flat feet.

If any of you have ever tried the Nike Max Moto series throughout the early 2000's,

but still good enough cushion underneath which is my favorite kind of cushion.

This shoe offers midsole/outsole cushioning, strong energy return from the outsole, and overall excellent comfort.

A bit of memory foam to conform to your foot and a bit of rebound in the sole.

For pronators, this shoe is very well padded, giving you excellent support, and will keep your feet comfortable all day, even if you are overweight.

You don't have to be a pronator to use them; it simply means they have extra padding on the sides and arch, which is a good thing for just about everyone, in my opinion (remember that less padding equals more shock on your joints).

They were so comfortable with the right amount of cushion and spring for me.

Ran the Tokyo marathon with those this year and felt no discomfort whatsoever the whole time.

though this shoe has more support than what I had been wearing, it is still a really comfortable shoe for me.

I returned them and ordered a half size up.

I can say only one thing: the people that don’t give 5 stars on this shoes,  are the people that have bought the wrong shoes for their feet .

My toes were touching against the fabric as soon as I put them on.

I purchased the Mizuno Wave Prophecy 12 and the toe box is too small.

I wore them around the house, and tried very hard to ignore how irritating the tongue was.

They have tweeked something on this shoe that it is no longer comfortable to wear.

The tongue of the shoe rubbed against my leg and i had to tuck it in under the shoestrings.
