My mom had some edema and I bought her a few pairs of slippers for Christmas and they all had to be returned.

If I must step outside for a moment, the thorns do not hurt because of the sturdy bottom.

Feels so cozy and warm, and holds nice for 2 seasons.

However they are not at all waterproof and this is the second pair where the stitching has rotted and the boot come apart after not extensive use.

Also the tongues are not attached to the side of the laces opening allowing water to enter easily.

Only criticism is that at the base of the tongue on the sides is a weak spot for letting in water

but beware the tongue is not continuous with the lace holes, so water runs in around the laces giving you a wet foot. 2.

BUT when walking along a wet pavement iris like walking on ice - the sole just seems to lack any sort of grip on wet paving, be it tarmac, concrete or paving slabs.

Unfortunately, after only 60 days of regular use, the rubber toe pads started to delaminate.

The sole of the shoe is separating from the toe end down a good two inches.

After 4 years of hard wear (think mixing the light infantry ground pounder with an industrial installation worker standing on slabs of concrete all day and the leather standing up to sharp metal) the soles don't pad your heels quite as well.

I also broke one of the lace holders while tightening my laces.

pros: These tough mother lovers will eat through anything and everything you try to throw their way, and laugh it off as you recover from whatever adventure they took you on.
