but the Eddie Bauer boot did not fit correctly; either too big or too small--probably because a wide width was not available.

New Balance does run a little narrower than most USA brands,

A few notes: 1) not as wide as many 4E's,

If you struggle with 4E width being slightly narrow, these might not be the right choice.

I wear out a pair of Walmart boots about every 6 months and wasn't really surprised when they started coming out of the box ill-fitting.

All of the above is to say these are the slipperiest shoes I have possibly ever worn; far worse than the Asics or any of the hiking boot/shoes.

I buy New Balance shoes because they come in a wide width.

Like other New Balance Shoes, I am very happy with this shoe.

but that does not diminish my like and endorsement of this New Balance hiking shoe.

Anyway, I gladly paid more for the New Balance shoe because it fits correctly and my experience and opinion is that New Balance makes a superior product.

I have had many different hiking boots (Vasque Monolith, Keen Utility Flint, Dunham Cloud, Carhartt CMH4375, Merrell Moab and Moab 2) and all of them are far superior to regular trainers for traction when hiking.

I would buy them again, based on the limited selection in 12 4E, provided I was buying a lightweight duty/hiking boot.

Meh… Not as wide as Propet XX-Wide footwear that I’ve worn in the past, minimally sized straps, sounds like walking on rice cereal/bubble wrap.

but the two top, adjustable strap aren't even CLOSE to being long enough for people with fat feet.

The center strap didn't reach the velcro..

There was about 2 inches in the middle of the strap with nothing, so I glued some more velcro on with contact cement, so the center strap could finally reach something to cling to..

The manufactures should consider adding an extra 2 inches of velcro to the center strap on their "Wide" sandals.

My husband wears them a couple times a week and the heels are already wearing down; we're probably going to have to have them resoled before a year is up (he has a brown pair of the same and had to have them resoled at 10 months; these seem to be wearing out on about the same timeline).

Also, the front corner of the right heel has chipped off and I've only had them for a couple months.

The only complaint I have is that they have discontinued their line of deer skin boots which were even more comfortable than the other leathers.

but the stitching at the very top which is supposed to be a double line is only one line and on the inside it veers off course completely running off the leather at the downward 'point'.

I ordered 9.5 Wide which is my normal shoe size for hiking boots and New Balance Cross Training shoes, and the boots fit me perfectly.

The boots are clearly of very high quality, the 9.5 Wide size I ordered fits perfectly, and I am one very satisfied customer.

Justin is the only boot I will ever buy.

If you are used to putting on a pair of boots and wanting to take them off in a few hours do yourself a favor and get a pair of Justin boots.

I typically have a pair re-soled once before replacing the boots because they are so well made that you can't hardly wear out anything except the soles.

Justin boots are just as comfortable as a pair of tennis shoes and can be worn all day at work, cleaned up, and because of their classic styiling can be worn out on the town at night.

You'll forget you are wearing boots and won't want to take them off at the end of the day.

In my opinion, given the price, you will not find a boot with the look, feel, and comfort at such a bargain anywhere else.
