These are Asics after all so expect them to be a little snug.

You really have to crank down to get good lock down which is ironic since the shoe is generally snug.

From the moment I put them on the heel felt awfully snug and I was afraid they would wind up chafing the back of my heel.

if you use all the eyelets, the laces re not long long enough to tie.

I had minimal heel slippage mostly since the lacing ironically does not lock your food down as much as you may think- I think its because the gap in the instep is too large There is not a toe bumper per say-

If the Kanahas still do not break in for you after 2 or 4 days being still too tight, send them back.

Now that they are "past tense" and what remains available are few I like having them for all my workouts in the gym, on the road, or the trail.

Long story short, for Asics the highest level quality trail shoe you can get that offers stability (for pronation) are the Kahana's.

As with many trail shoes (particularly the Venture 6) the inherent stability makes them great for the gym, too.

The fact that they are more stable than the average trail shoe really helped on the technical parts of the trail.

the heel counter is nice and solid helping the heel lock down.

I'm 6'1" 195 solid pounds and they make me feel light as a feather and stable as an anvil for whatever I do.

Upper: the leather portion feels sturdy and secure.

The acrylic webbing and tongue are also sturdy,

Ride: The Upper: Unlike many newer Asics and Brooks that spray paint on decals on the sides that are supposed to offer support- news flash they do not, it's just paint!- the Kahanas have actual material on the sides of the shoe to help support your foot.


Asics makes good shoes, and the Kehana doesn't disappoint.

For a budget shoe, the Kehana is excellent for dry trails, light hiking, and even a casual night out on the town.

The outsole tread is more toothy than the photos show, which makes the shoe good for climbing light hills.

I think they are excellent value for dog walking and light hiking around town.

Great choice, especially since I believe the 7's are better than the 8's (according to some online reviews).

UPDATE: I've run about 20 miles with these shoes, on a variety of terrain, and they're good.

The weight is light, which is unusual for trail shoes.

I like how they're a good crossover shoe you can use on the trail and also on pavement.

but otherwise, they're a great hybrid shoe for both trail and road running.

I had trouble getting my foot into these because there is very little stretch at the opening.

2 ) The band around the top makes it difficult to slip them on and squeezes a tad too much while wearing.

Unfortunately, the elastic around the top on these was way more restrictive and I had to send them back.

but the toes in that shoe … how do I explain …it felt like the memory foam didn’t go all the way to the end so my toes hung over the little cliff at the edge.

The first two pair I bought, (Sketchers, and Asics) were super small and so off sized, like two sizes too small!

If you have smaller ankles, these may be a great option for you.

This is my second pair of Seager Topanga trail shoes and I love them.

The insole was supportive and comfortable.

After wearing these around the house for a bit to insure I can wear them, I determined the following: 1 ) Shoe is rather attractive.

These are cute, light, and comfortable, IF you can get your foot into them!

So I expect them to say I’m out of luck and cannot return.

After wearing shoes for about one month one has a tear in it by the seem this is from walking not because they got caught on something and ripped.

First off I should say if you are looking for trail running shoes these aren't it:  They are heavy.

The quality is obviously there, the arch support and general comfort is fantastic, and they are a good choice if you need a nearly slip-on sturdy trail shoe for more level hikes when you don't need the ankle support of a real boot.

An objective issue, that you'll see in other reviews, is that they run a little small.

I normally am a perfect size 7, and this 7 feels like a 7.5.

I had to return them and get a smaller size.

NOW I HAVE TO RETURN THEM AND WAIT FOR THE SIZE 7 TO GO ON SALE!

These ended up just a tiny bit tight in the toes, hopefully I get a few mm stretch by breaking them in.

The laces were kind of off to the side which made it kind of weird when I was running good concept A for effort F for follow up.

I wear size 7 and size 7 fit perfect with some room if I choose to wear thick socks.

Needed a light weight trail shoe and tried them out today and I was happy.

This is the most comfortable shoe I have bought(outside of my Wallabees) in the last 10 years.
