but the added stiffness of the upper rubs my achiles tendon to the point I need to wear hiking socks with them (even after multiple walks in them).

I’ve got a pal whose had bare knee problems since wearing them.

There are also many reviews where the fabrics wears out in a specific spot where the fabric meets the TPU near the toe.

however the fabric seems pretty tough so I suspect the culprit is when it gets really dirty and the dirt wears that location out.

What rubbed me wrong was the pinching and rubbing of the folded fabric when I flexed my feet as I would if running up a steep incline or even just the toe off action.

Walking through dew-covered grass now results in soaked feet.

The outersole is a bit thicker than other Altra shoes, giving more cushion when walking on pavement and the shoe overall is not quite as flexible as other Altra models.

So there’s the head scratcher, as soon as you start walking the event starts ripping.

After about 6 months the sole has now separated from the shoe in the heal.

The glue stops glueing, the sole disappears quicker.

I tried the Timp 3, and could barely stand up from slipping over, then the sole came away from the upper.

The insoles that come with them do not need to be replaced.


Used for fell walking, perfectly adequate as boot replacements on reasonable ground.

The wide toebox makes them very comfortable.

Altra brand shoes are unbelievably comfy and seemingly well made, this makes my 2nd pair and I'll be buying more in the future, no doubts‼️

Comfortable shoe if you order 1/2 size longer than typically.


So Altra lone peaks are incredibly comfortable.

I’ve had a few now, and they have all been comfy.

Toe box is plenty wide enough for my toes to spread out naturally and there is zero drop from heel to toe.
