the new phantom 3 is cushioned differnently which i love because walking on hard surfaces hurt my body, not with these shoes,  i wore them in the house for 2 days and then walked on the road 2 days a few miles each andno body or foot pain.

but i think i will do more hard surface walking in these when i cant get to the trails in my trail shoes also by topo.

choice

I just with it had an all black option, and looked a little cooler so I’d be happier to wear it about town and when when traveling.

There are plenty of high quality options available out there.

This shoe is very comfortable, and I’m keeping it.

Salomon Men's Speedcross 5 Trail Running Shoes

-Overtightening the lacing system in any one region can break a loop when the shoe flexes, rendering the shoe instantly a useless loose slipper (I used thin aluminum wire to secure it to my feet and complete the hike).

but salomon has graciously failed to inform us that their "cheapening for profits" process might kill a few hikers who don't.

The speedcross 5s begin to fall apart within one or two rock-heavy hikes.

First off - these are flexible soles and may not be best for long treks.

Not a deal breaker by any means, please see photo of damage after 250 miles, it's minor just annoying after 3 weeks.

-The soles now detach, leaving the rubber impregnated scuff protection materials edge exposed to rocks and sticks.

BUT.. these will wear out quickly on pavement and concrete.

So don't wear them to go shopping or for fashion.

Awesome for Trail Running
Have had these shoes for a few years now.

but walked a mile , my shines felt good, my hamstrings felt good, then starting jogging & my soles of my feet felt magical , lower back felt no discomfort, the faster I Ran more comfort I felt , I LOVE THIS RUNNING Shoe!

The soles will quickly become smooth on hard surfaces.
