Sorel Women's Winter Boots

had to return/exchange

Had to return for a 6, and I have never worn a size 6 shoe in my *life*.

So unfortunately they're going to be returned.

but very odd fit
I ended up having to return this pair (bought 2 sizes up) for a pair 3.5 sizes up.

I dragged everything to return and exchange for 7.5 via mail.

Yet again I dragged it back to exchange for size 7.

And now it's going to take my 3rd roundtrip to return these because the tongue padding is so thick (see my photo), it's painfully rubbing the little bone that sticks out on the inner ankle right above the foot.

All in all a huge hassle to lug these back and forth to return!! !

No joke, these run super small
Usually when reviewers say a shoe runs small, I'm all over it because I'm on the small end of a size 5.

but the foot length is what seemed too small for me.

I have narrow feet, high arches, my second toe is slightly longer than my big toe, slender ankles, minimal calves, and my shoe size universally is like a 7.5 W. I bought a 9.5 and it was way too short and my toes felt crammed.

There is a weird circular thing I can feel under the center of the sole close to the arch that feels like a raised logo like 3-4cm in size, I eventually got used to it,

Let me save your sanity regarding sizing
Getting the right size was maddening.

However the size 7 in this Whitney is actually LARGER THAN THE 7.5 of the prior Whitney version.

My only complaint is about the tongue which really should be wider.

I should have gone up to 8 because these shoes are so impossibly slim I can only wear them in winter with very thin socks.

Note to Sorel- customers have been begging for years for these boots to be made wider.

Maybe if Sorel made the boots wide enough so I could actually wear a winter sock with this, it wouldn't rub!

I ordered about 6 different pairs due to the very confusing reviews!

but it's a bad flaw and insoles can mask it but there's no reason for it to be there (it was instantly felt in all 3 pairs I bought).

When I moved the tongue away from that bone it awkwardly padded the outside of my foot and looked weird.

The sole grips well, my feet are actually warm, and no blisters or rubs,

I was super excited about these boots because they're not big and clunky like my "monster Sorel winter boots" and they will be more comfortable for traveling, commuting, etc.

I hope this helps people :) I LOVE them - so comfortable, possibly on the narrow side which is ok for me.

There's just a little bit of arch support and super squishy insoles that make them very comfortable.

These are incredibly warm and so far waterproof (up to where the gap on the sides of the front tongue cover are).

but if you have a narrow foot, buy much bigger than you need and can get these snug for you, they are warm and comfortable.

Started falling apart near the the upper heal, the heals wore really fast forcing my husband to walk on an angle.

but not acceptable
I pulled them out of the box, put them on, laced them up and went for a 3/4 mile walk in the snow at about 10°.

One third of the way into the walk and I realized the stitching at the top of the tongue of the right boot was chafing my shin.

Completed the walk and my feet were beginning to feel a little cool.

The size runs too small
I wear a size 12 shoes and have worn  size 12 snow boots and they fit ok

but these boots have the wrong idea what size is supposed to be.

That foot is size 12-1/2 and the boots were size 14.

So far these are holding up great much better than expected for using as a work boot.

Fantastic Quality Great for hiking and snow shoeing
I use these as an all round winter boot.

They are keeping my feet dry and once wore in are quite comfortable and light weight.
