These are Asics after all so expect them to be a little snug.

You really have to crank down to get good lock down which is ironic since the shoe is generally snug.

From the moment I put them on the heel felt awfully snug and I was afraid they would wind up chafing the back of my heel.

if you use all the eyelets, the laces re not long long enough to tie.

I had minimal heel slippage mostly since the lacing ironically does not lock your food down as much as you may think- I think its because the gap in the instep is too large There is not a toe bumper per say-

If the Kanahas still do not break in for you after 2 or 4 days being still too tight, send them back.

if you run Kahanas in such conditions you may get hurt and like I say .

I'm 6'1" 195 solid pounds and they make me feel light as a feather and stable as an anvil for whatever I do.

The fact that they are more stable than the average trail shoe really helped on the technical parts of the trail.

Long story short, for Asics the highest level quality trail shoe you can get that offers stability (for pronation) are the Kahana's.

As with many trail shoes (particularly the Venture 6) the inherent stability makes them great for the gym, too.

the heel counter is nice and solid helping the heel lock down.

Upper: the leather portion feels sturdy and secure.

The acrylic webbing and tongue are also sturdy,

Ride: The Upper: Unlike many newer Asics and Brooks that spray paint on decals on the sides that are supposed to offer support- news flash they do not, it's just paint!- the Kahanas have actual material on the sides of the shoe to help support your foot.


Asics makes good shoes, and the Kehana doesn't disappoint.

For a budget shoe, the Kehana is excellent for dry trails, light hiking, and even a casual night out on the town.

The outsole tread is more toothy than the photos show, which makes the shoe good for climbing light hills.

I think they are excellent value for dog walking and light hiking around town.

Thought I was ordering slip on shoes I received them and they have laces to tie I'm rather disappointed for $150 the images hide the rest of the laces making people think they are just slip on shoes.

That said, I can say that the ride right out of the box is very smooth and stable.

They stick to just about everything and the wide forefoot makes for a nice stable platform.

I have a pair of much loved, yet rather dingy, Mountain Racer 2s that are pretty much my favorite trail shoes ever.

Plenty of room in the toe box for my Injinji-clad piggies to splay out, and no rubbing or irritation.

However this updated version has it all: wide toe box

but close fitting throughout the rest of the shoe (so no sliding around inside the shoe), 5mm drop (not too high - not too low), Zipfoam midsole, plush tongue and heel cups, Vibram outsole (the best! ), decent lugs for traction, laces that never come undone (the only shoes I don’t have to double-knot!)

The extra padding and updated foam make my feet happy on long runs and technical trails.

The Vibrim outsole remains unchanged and is awesome.

Although I went half a size up from my normal shoe size, initially I was concerned that the shoes may have been slightly too big when first putting them on.

I'm a size 10 and bought a size 10.5 and they are just slightly to big.

however I would say stuck with the size you are when buying

Like many running shoes, the claimed size is off.

They are about a half size larger than the stated size.

but the retailer (GritrSports) rejected my request because I bought the shoes more than 30 days ago.

And Inov-8 only offered a discount to buy another pair of shoes from them.

I have worn trail runners for over 8 years now and will never buy another pair from Inov-8 after this experience.

I made the same mistake as others in regard to sizing and fit by ordering the WRONG shoes.

But going back to the sizing - it is not the length that is a problem

It would be rather ironic (and painful) to tear up the trails only to fall in your kitchen while reaching for the Gatorade.

They're the most stable I've worn for lifting and rope work.

Furthermore, the other concern I had about feeling every bump on the road whilst exercising also becomes a non-issue, as the shoes are comfortable and stable enough to support both foot and ankle.

While I used to think the trail shoe was a gimmick to get runners to buy yet another pair of shoes, I found that these were well worth it for trail racing.

I’ve run in these in rain and in 106° heat and they have always been comfortable and reliable—and after almost a year they are still kicking.

Grip has been great, they dry quick and were comfy straight away I'm coming back after injury and accidently getting old and fat so 10K max so far.

Precision - fits snug and is designed for regular or narrow feet.

If you wear New Balance and find Nike's to be slightly snug, you'll like these (That's me).

I can't fault the out-sole or the weight, or for now the quality feeling construction of the Roclites, and during my local Park Run on wet grassy slopes there wasn't a hint of a slippage from them.

Since many trail races feature water, this is a nice feature.

Once I understood the sizing, fit and ordered the correct pair of shoes, I was amazed.

They fit people who are accustom to wearing Asics or Adidas.

I could see that if you cinched them down too much they could be uncomfortable,

but if you used a ratchet strap on some Hey Dudes, they’d probably be pretty uncomfortable as well.

I have a feeling that whoever wore these and reviewed them as uncomfortable probably ties their shoes too tightly.
