My Merrell Moab 2's, bought many years ago, are kind of heavy and have always had an uncomfortably hard insole, even on minimal length trails.

I don't like added things in my shoes, like comfort inserts.

The insole was now literally painfully hard.

I presume the thin under sole Vibram layer is already a bit worn out.

but last one I could wear was the 18, because they changed the shoe width to way too narrow for my feet on subsequent models and the wides didn't fit right.

The longer I walked on it, my feet and ankle would become very tired and sore.

These shoes are lighter, softer, and more comfortable than my old walking shoes, but they seem to provide a lot of support.

I have a stubborn Achilles tendon problem and find I can walk farther, with much less pain afterward, when wearing them.

but that's because my left foot is bigger (happens in most shoes), but it also does seem to accommodate my various ankle supports I wear when distance walking, due to a severe sprain 2 years ago.

I wanted a light weight hiking shoe for summer, this one fit the bill.

It fits like all other Merrell shoes I have owned, and the insole is good quality.

I don't think I would do that next time with this shoe and could get away without sizing up, or only size up a half size.

I lift and cross train in these and they provide a solid and supportive foundation for your feet.

These shoes are a great and supportive cross trainer, and great for.

I used to always wear Brooks, since wearing these my legs have not cramped after walking or running!

I use them as gym shoes and have no issues walking, biking, or lifting in these shoes.

I have plenty of room in the toe box when running.

Going from more running type of workouts to BeachBody type, finding the right shoe has been tough.

I got these in a size 9 and they fit perfect.

However, aftet that 2-ish week period they have become very comfortable.

Break them in
I got the same size I wear in the cvt-wool (38), and it was a wrestling match getting them on the first couple times.

It's useful to have a little extra space too, because - - I ordered socks to wear with these (so they don't get smelly) - These shoes didn't give me sufficient arch support, and I put in 3/4 inch arch/sole inserts to solve that - The back of the shoes also really dug into my heel, which hurt.

Adding the sole insert lifted my heel up and solved this issue - I am a little worried about the material on the top part of the shoe is going to wear quickly because it's such thin material. i.e.

Read the description before you buy- these aren’t meant to be super support, memory foam laden 5lb shoes!

however is not good, I had to order several pairs before a good fit.

The ankle was painful at first and one of my pinky toes felt like fabric was scratching it,

The fact the bottom is one solid piece instead of how the more athletic shoes (i have KMD) have multiple layers which are more supportive.

Spyridons work because the one piece was harder and therefore supportive.

and comes to my 3rd pair of Trek with mega grip which provides more support on arch and feel of bounce when walk or jog.

I love how I can feel the rocks and other stuff while walking

These shoes just have a thin layer of neither. You do get grip, like when running down dirt hill it does grip nicer than KMD which is expected as KMD is a training shoe(gym, weight lifting, cardio)

even just my toe nail or something rubbing against it Otherwise - I took them out hiking, walked all over rocks - they were really comfortable, had a lot of traction, and provided a lot of foot grip control climbing over things and going up/down inclines.

The fact that they are feather light allows you to enjoy the hike instead of wishing it was over so you could take your boots off.

The footbed and ankle support on these very expensive shoes became weak after a month.

The New Balance shoe was not comfortable (stitching and material on the inside pressed on my foot), the shoe tongue did not center itself and bunched up, the Velcro straps were too long, and the overall construction seemed to lack quality and attention to detail compared to the SAS shoe.

The New Balance shoe also looked like an old man's orthopedic shoe.

The New Balance was sent back for a refund.

When I was in my twenties, (40 yearsago), I would run 5 to 8 miles everyday.

I belive theywere 'Nike's The running shoe felt like I was walking on air  compared to my old Converse all Stars'' Well these Sas shoes feel the same compared to other so-called 'walking'shoes of today), these are my second pair, welding 'spader' and sloppy painting ruined my first pair.

I found these mesh slip-on walking sneakers with the hook & loop easy fasteners and just felt they would be the ones.

I'd been a runner years ago and worn New Balance running shoes and thought of them at the time as a well made shoe.

The SAS shoe fit well from the first time I wore it.

but based on my initial impression and the posted reviews, I'm expecting to be able to wear these for a long time! !

I wore them the whole day the very first day.

I have worn them for the past several days and hate to take them off as they are more comfortable than my "good" slippers! HOMERUN!

stitching good, all the parts well fitted, and overall well designed.

I have worn various styles of SAS shoes off and on over the years and have liked all of them for fit, comfort and overall quality.

The shoes fit beautifully, and with the addition of a good pair of drugstore orthotic insoles I found them to be more comfortable than my slippers.
