but not soft enough to walk around at work all day (IMO).

However, within minutes of walking on my hardwood floor I noticed that the outer portion of my foot (closer to the toes and metatarsel) felt "lifted" as I walked.

This was leading to my 4th and 5th metatarsel bones feeling lifted and like that part was walking on hard plastic because the rest of the white foam sank in.

I could never imagine wearing these to work, let alone walking on concrete for 8 hours.

Everything was perfect until I started walking and immediately felt the top of the heel rub against the back of my ankle.

but I feel like I’m walking on a cheap shoe picked up at the now defunct “Payless”.

Haven’t held up to minimal wear
Have only had the shoe for six months and the bottom is already separated itself with only minimally wear.

It's possible that they might not be as comfortable or supportive on rocky/rough surfaces, as the padding isn't very thick

These shoes do not have very much cushion at all.

I noticed that the black grips on the bottom of the shoe are much harder rubber than the soft white ones (pictured).

The foam on the bottom is incredibly lightweight and cheap feeling IMO.

The material also felt quite cheap and plasticy, and not so fabricy like I was expecting.

I am going on a long business trip and need a new pair of sneakers that are packable but suitable for working out (cross training / lifting and running).

As you can see from the photos, the top of the heel is quite high (higher than my socks), and the stitching isn't smooth.

I have worn other brands with wide toe boxes,

The toe box is nice and roomy, and fit as expected.

They are very comfortable,  stable, fit true to size and offer exactly what was promised - stability and room for the toes to spread out.

The ST-4 is more cushioned and the sole is more comfortable and shock absorbing than my previous NB's.

Thought I was ordering slip on shoes I received them and they have laces to tie I'm rather disappointed for $150 the images hide the rest of the laces making people think they are just slip on shoes.

Plenty of room in the toe box for my Injinji-clad piggies to splay out, and no rubbing or irritation.

However this updated version has it all: wide toe box

That said, I can say that the ride right out of the box is very smooth and stable.

They stick to just about everything and the wide forefoot makes for a nice stable platform.

but close fitting throughout the rest of the shoe (so no sliding around inside the shoe), 5mm drop (not too high - not too low), Zipfoam midsole, plush tongue and heel cups, Vibram outsole (the best! ), decent lugs for traction, laces that never come undone (the only shoes I don’t have to double-knot!)

The extra padding and updated foam make my feet happy on long runs and technical trails.

The Vibrim outsole remains unchanged and is awesome.

A great follow up to the previous version
I have a pair of much loved, yet rather dingy, Mountain Racer 2s that are pretty much my favorite trail shoes ever.

I have normal feet slight arch like most people and the arch support of insole in these shoes is too high, it's painful to walk tbh.

I love my Altra sneakers so when I needed hiking boots I ordered these.

I tried them with custom orthotics and they are still ill fitting.

Bought these boots for snow hiking in Colorado and the waterproof seal broke on mile 2.

but for some reason they are very uncomfortable.

They are waterproof, the toe box is comfortably larger and it hugs the midfoot to keep the foot stable.

Very comfortable right out of the box, good grip.
