I noticed after walking around all day in these that my achilles tendon started to ache, which is totally new for me when it comes to footwear.

but the 1st day walking on a trail any wet grass at all and the water soaked right through the shoe.

But while MQM Ace had Vibram soles, these Flex have Merrell soles, which regrettably don't seem particularly durable- I'm already missing 2 lugs on one shoe after merely 1 run and 1 hike, albeit a very rocky one.

I have had these for less than six months and they soles are missing studs.

But Merrell has never been great with insoles.

Size is a little smaller than expected (1/2 size smaller than Merrell Moabs).

Overall, it is not the best hiking/trail shoe I have had and a miss by Merrell.

I will be contacting the manufacturer as I would expect a much better product from Merrell.

Two, they are only somewhat water resistant.

I wanted a lightweight hiking shoe for the northern Arizona trails I hike.

I hike everyday in AZ (Phx area) & yes even in triple digit heat during the summer.

On my first trail I put these shoes to the test by hiking the most unforgiving terrain/mountain I hike -lots of loose & jagged, hard (mostly granite) rock & they performed well.

MQM Flex seem just as comfortable and perhaps have even better traction than MQM Ace due to pretty sizeable lugs on the sole.

This is a comfortable shoe that was sized accurately.

TOO WIDE IN FABRIC, TOO LONG LACES
Let me clarify the good points as well as my disappointment about these water shoes.

NOT GOOD:  The stretchy fabric is excessively wide with very long adjustable laces.

If you adjust the laces to make them fit a narrow foot, the  laces hang a foot long!

The second pair will have to be returned due to the fact that the pair shipped is a size 43 when it should be a 37.

I will return them as soon as I am allowed to drive again or I can get a family to take them to a return pick up.

When I say "wore out" I mean  holes would eventually appear in the side material that allowed sand and small sea shells to get inside the shoes, which is very uncomfortable when walking.

but I take these on a 3-mile trail hike every morning, and they're still going strong.

And these were a nice next level water shoe that looks more like a light weight sneaker.

GOOD:  These are attractive, soft, lightweight and probably good for some wider feet.

Great Water Shoes
This is the best pair of water shoes I have ever bought.

If I have to buy a new pair every 6 months, that's OK with me as they are so comfortable.

Because of stretchiness and extra toe box fabric, these could be used after toe surgery as well as in the water.

They are totally comfortable unlike other water shoes that rub on one or more of your toes or side of your foot abrading those spots and causing blisters on one or more toes.

Although the toe box had more room, the overall shoe felt too big in length, especially as I walked around in them (like walking in long shoes).

The current generation, this toe protection actually comes to below the toe - even with a snug toe box - providing little to no toe protections if you stub that shoe into something as you are walking or running.

Somehow, if used heavily in rugged trail running or walking, I would think these eyelets would give way quickly and tear off the shoe.

The sole grips wore out very quickly at the heel areas, much more quickly then expected - compared to other trainers and walking shoes I have worn.

I've lowered the rating from 4 stars to 3 stars as these trail running shoes didn't last at least two years of moderate wear as light walking shoes.

At first, I thought the pair I bought might be too snug in the toe box, a lot less room than what I am use to with Columbia Peakfreaks.

* The toe box needs to be a bit bigger so that it doesn't feel so snug, like good quality running shoes.

Even after a few weeks, I still have the feeling that the toe box is too snug,

but "dry" feet from the outside elements.

Shoe laces are thin and very delicate, and did not survive the first washing machine cleaning very well.

The shoe lace tips wore off in the washer, so had to use tape to keep the worn ends together.

Since the are not water-proof, sand and dust gets into the shoes easily, hence the washing machine cleaning.

but I foresee them staying as my <10 mile light hikers and runners.

These are the best overall shoes for jogging and trekking that I have ever owned.

Very Good Trail Runner
I've been a big fan of Inov8 since 2015 when I hiked part of the PCT.

Also fine for climbing rough Scottish hills often pathless.

The toe box is roomy and doesn't bunch my toes or rub too hard on the widest part of my foot,

They are comfortable like street trainers, and yet have a similar foot support around them like my Nike running trainers.

Even my Nike Lunarglides feel like they have more cushion around them.

I would say they run about 1/2 sixe big, and why does every shoe you buy these days have round shoelaces on them! 😖

I purchased a 9 wide per recommendations and they were wrong.

They were too long and too wide so sent them back.

It is not comfortable as I thought it would be, the shell is hard and my feet hurts.

Still, being on my feet all day made my legs hurts,

the non-slip sole also provided great traction on slippery surfaces, giving me confidence and stability while trekking up and down the trails.

The waterproof feature kept my feet dry during a recent hike in wet conditions, and the shoes are very lightweight.

Quality hiking boots always feel stiff at first, and need to be broken in.

I had to get the third pair of hiking boots to get the correct size,

I now have to buy another boot, as I wear my boots everyday and require them to withstand my daily lifestyle, mostly for working on my feet, Not a happy customer.

Day two of a backcountry hunt I got a surprise when I felt the water in the toe box of my new pair of these boots.

but my wife has hiked the AT and lots of other trails, and I think her recommendation is a good one.

Where credit is do, it is a comfortable boot with a very short break in.

I have worn Vasque boots for working outdoors for a couple decades and find that they fit me well and last a long time.

They fit great are soft and feel good
I use these shoes for every day use hunting, fishing, and work construction they have been my go to shoes for 15 years.

After wearing for a couple of months the fabric part of the shoe has a hole in it.

I would think think that such an expensive shoe would wear better.

The sole has these gripping nubs which I felt would wear out quickly on concrete.

After one month the shoes fabric started to get worn out especially by where you bend your toes.

The nubs seemed to be maybe 40-50 percent of the sole surface.

The soles seem a bit thin in the front section.

but the Saucony Excursion Tr16 Trail hikers are more supportive as a warm-weather option.
