WAY TOO BIG
I wear a 9 1/2 or 9 in everything.

bigger than other boots
Since I normally wear on 8W, I thought these might be a bit snug

They have cracks and the inside heels are worn away.

but the style I wear is now $100.00. Ouch.

I wear out a pair of boots about every 9 months and I just couldn't justify paying $100.00.

had to return/exchange

The nearest kohls to return them is too far away and I am now stuck with them.

I don't like how difficult amazon is to return things.

Most people don't live close to their return stores and their return shipping charge via ups is ridiculous.

My only gripe is that my return is taking a long time and Sheplers only replies with a generic response.

heel

Granted, my heel still rocks a bit in the boot

The heel points slightly forward anyway so I felt that if I ordered an 8 that it would be too short and tight with the shearling insole and rub my heel.

width

Even if I had sized down to an 8 they would have been too big and wide.

I've never had boots that fit this oversized and wide.

I was so disappointed because I have wide feet and these fit in the width

Looking closer we could see that the right boot was smaller in width than the left.

walking

NOW MY FEET GET WET EVEN WALKING ACCROSS DAMP GRASS.

That said, the flopping of the top on one's bare skin during walking might be irritating to some.

comfortable

Comparable to more expensive brands, obviously MUCH better than less costly rubber/neoprene versions. Comfortable.

but they fit very comfortably snug and cushy.

They are comfortable and look like they will survive my punishment as good as the Mucks, while saving $30.00.

but ordered a 7 in the Ropers and they have plenty of room for warm, comfy socks in cold weather.

but I removed the Roper insole and added my Ugg shearling insert in ( size 9) and put on a pair of light weight cable knee socks and they fit perfect.

but I like having a wool shearling insert in my boots, year round.

I also tried these on with the Shearling insole and a pair of cotton ragg socks that are thicker than my Merino cable knee highs and they fit well too

I wore the size 9 just yesterday with the shearling insole and no sock and they felt great.

Inside is soft and cushioned and molded for a foot arch, not completely flat.

Bottom tread is heavy duty, extra grippy, no slips or loss of functionality.

I then ordered the 9s and they were definitely more loose then I would like.

I am a true size 10 and these fit a bit too loose,

but moderately heavy and little flex in the sole.

My main complaint with these shoes is that the description stating “memory foam” insoles is highly deceptive.

The inserts also never stay put, they shifted and moved back out of the boot as you walked.

The other annoying part is the insole keeps shift out from the boot.

They don’t come in half sizing, and I’m normally an 8.5.

I put orthotics in mine, which makes them way more comfortable!

however I did just walk through a very puddle-filled, potholed parking lot, stopping to intentionally step in each puddle and my feet are dry and warm.

So, I removed the fleece insole, and joyfully found that the entire inside of the boot is fleece lined as well.

I put a Dr. Scholl's arch support insert in the boot and then replaced the fleece insole. Perfection.

Product review: mostly the boot is as described and no visible issues with the product.

but the 8 fit well and I normally wear 81/2.

Fit right and don’t feel clunky, and can wear with my regular winter wool socks without being too tight.

But adding the orthotics and wearing thicker socks makes them fit sufficiently enough.

They stretch really easily, so mine are already really wide after 2-3 uses.

I ordered a size 12, to be safe, and these came in fitting like a size 9.

These are atleast a full size too small still.

The slide on buckles are a little difficult to close,

The buckles are a little difficult to undo as well,

Only complaint is one strap was irregular, length and strap holes were shorter than the other.

I can't rate warmth or water resistance yet (since it's August),

but they look good, and are exceptionally comfy.

These Boots keep my feet warm dry and they are so comfortable.

Lined and padded with just the right amount.

They are also lightweight (unlike the last pair of boots I had, which felt like dragging lead weights around).

The tongue is uncomfortable for the first few weeks.

The Tongue(s)  on the boot is so uncomfortable.

I talked to someone at Thorogood who suggested there might be a manufacturing defect and that I should swap them for a new pair

I think Thorogood needs to revisit the design.

for some reason Thorogood has padded the tongue which makes it bunch up and bind on your ankle.

Thorogood should fix this problem, apparently i am not the only one with this issue.

but, as other reviewers have reported, the tongue bunches up when the boots are laced up, resulting in one or two pressure points on the ankles.

One other thing about the Thorogoods is that the speed lace D fasteners are too small.

Even the Wide is Narrow
So far, one week in, had to go up a whole size to get something where the steel toe wasn't digging in.

Soles hold up very well and they're very comfortable.

Once you get the insole lined up right (also a pain) they are reasonably comfortable to wear all day.

within a week the boot fit my foot very well and was comfortable all day every day.

The new pair seems to be easier to deal with (tongue issue) not sure why, possibly my first pair was somehow a factory mess-up or maybe they have addressed the issue? The boot is comfortable for all day wear, so much so that I have purchased the same boot (1957 series)

I had the same boot in non-waterproof and there was no issues.

Red Wing discontinued that boot and I was not able to find another boot that fit like the original.

I am trying to deal with this issue (I like the boot)  In comparison, the Red Wing boot did not have padding on the tongue which allowed it to lay flat and conform to your ankle and become unnoticeable.

again, the Thorogood boot is high quality and  American made.

that boot is also breaking in much better than my first pair.

This  Thorogood fits the bill as close as I can find, same look, same high quality and American made.

ROCKY Collection 32 Small Batch 5" Boot

This boot costs less than the Irish setter mock toe wedge and yet is higher quality and more comfortable.

The leather is nice, the leather welt is high end, and the pig skin lining the footbed is great.
