I thought they were stitched into position because these shoes are slip-ons and the laces are really just for show,

but apparently not because my left lace came untied just a month after purchasing these, and my right lace came untied 4 months after purchasing.

And you cannot retie these laces to look the same as they did, and they will not stay tied even if you could.
