The insoles are very hard, so I will have to get some gel inserts.

These have a rock plate which is awesome after wearing zero drop without one for the last few years.

I’ve beaten these guys up pretty good on rock fields and rocky, rooty trails and besides a couple of chipped lugs they look and still perform well for the usage and miles on them.

The Peregrine 7's have the best upper I've ever seen on a trail shoe.

The Peregrine 7 imo is the best trail shoe of all-time (I've had New Balance, ASICS, Alta, Adidas, and three gens of Peregrines).

Anyway, I'm very excited to see this improvement from Saucony, as it seems they're getting serious about trail shoes.

Ok, now for the actual review: I've been a fan of Saucony for years, and Kinvaras have been my go-to for the roads.

I was also pleased to see that Saucony added extra overlay on top of the toes of the 10, which I imagine was to prevent this.

That said, I've gone through at least 10 pairs of Saucony shoes without experiencing any manufacturing defects.

Like, the most utilitarian design - notably exposure resistant (water resistant, warm, and would dry quickly and thoroughly), and tough.

Not super hard or soft, a good, comfortable middle ground of cushioning.

The Peregrine 10's have always kept me very comfortable.

I did 30 miles backpacking the Long Trail, in Vermont, with the 7s and they were stunning.

Also, the addition of a rock plate is lovely.

It's always confusing when I see the generic box and that's why i put 3 star instead of 5 star.

I'm just not impressed by the level of grip, wet cobblestones already feel slippery when I simply walk on them.

These shoes are a moderately springy, nudging you to run.

This is an Exodus 10, and is an excellent trail shoe (this review is after nearly 200 kms).

I am a bit heavier runner (90+ kg), this shoe  offer me a stable and cushioned run.

That padding is substantial and perfectly balanced between cushion and support.

They fit true to size and are very comfy and grippy.

Immediately cured escalating sharp pain in ball of foot area that was headed towards several weeks off running.

Got these shoes and the foot pain is consistently getting better and better.

My feet don't hurt after 4 hours running in these.

I have to tell you I've just had so much fun wearing these!

A clean, bright, new look and they don't look like I'm wearing nurse shoes or bowling shoes.

Completely comfortable if you wear a wide shoe these will most likely work for you as they did me.

These trail shoes are my absolute favorite.

I have run in many different trail shoes and these are the best.

Ultimate running shoes
Awesome running shoes, I had a double discectomy because of herniated discs and I was looking for a good sturdy running shoes this ones don’t disappoint, completely satisfied, you get what you paid for, form fit, sturdy, stylish, and comfortable.

They have plenty of footbed, so my wide foot is very happy and comfortable.

New Balance Women's Hierro V7 Trail Running Shoe

The sneakers run small as noted in other reviews in comparison to my other New Balance styles.

I've been wearing Brooks Ghost on all my hiking adventures this past year and love them for walking

I wore my New Balance for the first time to hike Rough Ridge on the Blue Ridge Parkway and they were awesome.

I have a wide foot and it is very hard for a shoe to fit me comfortably and these are the perfect fit!

I did have to play with every single lace hole to get a proper heel lock, something I never had to do with my brooks,

Disappointing: toe box rubs my big toe joint raw, no arch support, heel lock doesn't work
After all of the positive recommendations I've seen for this shoe, I am truly disappointed.

Lastly, the heel lock does not work nearly as well as it does in my other shoes.

Despite utilizing the heel lock in these, my heel was still sliding slightly against the posterior portion of the shoe.

I am confused by those who praise this shoe for arch support while saying that they themselves have high arches.

I have medium-high arches and found that these shoes offer little-no arch support.

but only after 1.5 months of receiving and starting to use them for dog walks and short runs a few times a week, they are falling apart.

Great Shoe Worth Every Penny
It's been decades since I've worn a tennis-type shoe for anything

They dried quickly overnight and I was able to wear them the next day for more adventures.

However, I wear these shoes regularly and am very happy with the tie box and the great cushioning.

It is comfortable on my wide feet, lightweight and breathable, and has lived up to it's name as a trail shoe.

i bought another pair of these because i tried other topo trail shoe and  the cushion gave me shin splints didnt quite fit my high arch.

will keep looking as topo really listens to customers and changes things up to fit great.

i have 2 other topo shoe one for road  walking which fit perfect for my wide feet and high arch.

I also attempted to correct that with Oboz insoles, which fit much better inside the shoe and were very comfortable.

I've been looking for a pair of hiking boots/shoes that fit me and don't feel tight in the toe area - Keen's came the closest,

My husband and I love these Topos for hiking because of the roomy toe area, a 3mm drop from the heel and the protective rock plate.

I bought these for a geology trip out west and these shoes worked great!

For reference I hike in the WMNF working on the 4 thousand footers, these shoes are great.

but I just wipe them down after dusty hikes and they look good again.


These shoes are the most comfortable shoe if you have poor arches.

These shoes are so comfortable, so light, and work well on dusty trails, rocky trails, steep terrain, grassy paths, and to run errands in around town.

Vibram FiveFingers Men's V-Trail 2.0 Trail Running Shoes

First, comparing to regular sports shoes and hiking boots, vibram has thin and equal thickness across the sole, so if you are heavy or just not used to exercise barefeet, you will feel way more pressure onto the back of the feet and way more shock then what you usually expected.

Second, considering the low thickness of the sole, there are very low defense on the bottom.

Sizing is the hardest part, since you need to choose the size base on the “true size” rather than your regular true size.

You fell very sharp feelings walking on regular gravels or rocks, and I don’t feel confident taking them for hiking.

The Vibram Trail  2.0 are comfortable, and  they are safe [I have worn the previous trails for years].

Having both the Alphas and Trail 2.0 I can say that both shoes are made superb.

but if you used a ratchet strap on some Hey Dudes, they’d probably be pretty uncomfortable as well.

I have a feeling that whoever wore these and reviewed them as uncomfortable probably ties their shoes too tightly.
